I encourage everyone who even thinks a little bit about the old building while driving past to come and get involved. We need people to help us in our work to preserve the building and to have events for the community. I will send out the agenda when it’s final.

Travis County has committed to helping us make the parking lot and entrances better. They have already started working on drainage and will do more when they can work it in. The trailer that is parked on the property is there until Friday and the owner will be finding another place to store it in the future so that we can rope the area off again.

Several of our members have been donating their time and money to help bring the old building up to fire safety standards. We had the fire marshal from Travis County ESD come out and do a walkthrough to help us understand what we need to do. He gave us two smoke/CO2 detectors and the wonderful folks from our local fire department installed them for us. We’ve brought the fire extinguishers up to certification and some of our members have mounted them on the walls as directed. We have cleared out space in front of the electrical panel and are in the process of labeling the circuits. We’ve cleared out the water heater closet and will be looking for a plumber to help us figure out if it needs replumbed or replaced. We are also looking for an electrician to help us with a couple of other issues that we’ve found during this process. We’ve put proper address numbers where the fire marshal required, on the sign out front. We’ve taken out the non-working big old AC unit and made sure that the gas heater works well. We’ve gathered up extension cords and won’t be using them anymore to run electric heaters.

We have a website and a Facebook page and we post on Next door. Soon, we hope to have the sign out front set up to be able to post meeting notices.

Please think about how you want the building to be used in the future and how you can become a part of it. We need you.

https://roundmountainschool.org/>

Friends of Round Mountain School Facbook.
